What is a Mossberg silver model?

I have been looking at recent sales at Big5 and noticed that they are selling regular mossberg shotguns and mossberg silver models for a little cheaper. I talked to one of the workers and was told that mossberg was using cheaper parts from out of the country in the silver models. Can anyone verify this and does anyone know if there is anything different between the models?

Also I'm not talking about Mossberg silver reserve O/U. I'm talking about things like the mossberg "500 silver" combo.

Ya i ended getting the regular mossberg 500 combo, but I really want to know the difference between the two because the employees said that they are starting to get a lot more "silver" models coming in.

Also the store manager did mention to me that they are getting the "silver models" for cheaper than the regular 500 models.

the mossberg maverick 88 silver is made with cheaper parts from mexico but from what my local big 5 manager told me the mossberg silver has a different trigger that is rust restrant, not that i have see a lot of trigger rust before.

It's weird because it seems that I can't find a straight and direct answer on the Internet and sounds as though each store manager has their own idea what a mossberg silver is.

well I just got a SILVER combo from big 5 last week. its in jail now but I get it out Sun. if someone has a 500 combo we can meet up and take them apart side by side and see any differences.

I just talked to them today and they said silver was an upgraded trigger group. looking at the lightweight synth 20 ga for kids. dont know why it would be cheaper. they only had the regular combo in stock and i was thinking id rather have the silver for the same price if its better. based on the lack of info on the web and this thread, silver may not be a trigger upgrade but inferior.

The Big 5 in Chino Hills said the trigger is just made out of a different metal. Same price over here. I ended up picking up the standard black one today.

See, when you buy Pokemon Silver for Gameboy, they do you the courtesy of making the entire cartridge silver-colored so you know it's definitely supposed to be different. Let this be a lesson to you, Mossberg.

So anyone figure out the difference? Silver better or worse than standard? Same price at big 5 currently
