Same experience here.I think its worth it, I didnt really appreicate mine until I went shooting with a buddy and burnt my hand on his barrel... they do get pretty hot after a good set.
I also like the way it looks...NRA Endowment MemberComment

I admit to not being the most knowledgeable or skilled person here, but after i practically burned my hand on the barrel a few times, i bought one. I remember shooting skeet on a hot day - that barrel was roasting hot!
The forearm of Mossbergs are sloppy and loose. I found myself touching the barrel pretty often. Granted, it might not be the proper way to operate the gun, but my logic says that if any easily or commonly contacted section of the gun burns you, it's best to shield it.The dude abides...Comment

I have a basic mossberg 500.
I have burnt my hands several times on the barrel at the range while reloading.
So has my wife.
I've thought about the mossberg shield as i hear the ati and others suck.
My point is that, for some reason people seem to think they are useless.
They are not, I could use one.
I really don't want to modify this shotgun I want it simple. This is our hd shotgun.
Perhaps we will try "tactical reloads" first.Comment
