870 Super Mag stuck between off/safe

Broke my 870 Super Mag during the special goose season.

Maybe too many 3.5" BB's?

The safety is stuck halfway between on and off. It's one of the new ones which uses the "J" shaped keys to turn the gun on and off.

Thoughts?

PM "aippi" and you'll get the answer. There's not much about the 870 that JD doesn't know.

Go to www.aiptactical.com and click on the How to Video's and watch the video for changing out the safety. Remove yours and re-install it and it should be fine. Be sure to function test it completely before you go to shoot the weapon again. If it does not work correctly you need to change it out with a standard factory safety. This requires three parts, a safety, a safety detend ball and a safety detent spring. You should not use the spring and plunger that is in there now as those are only for use with the J-lock.

This conversion will run you about $10.50 in parts and gets rid of that fool J-lock mess and replaces it with Remington OEM parts.

As usual aippi's advice is golden. The J-lock was / is a POS, which is why Remington stopped making them.

This gun's got a few hickups in it. Sometimes when firing 3.5" shells it will kick a shell out of the magazine, but mostly when fired directly up.

The same exact thing happened to me on me Marine Magnum, I disassembled it, cleaned it, and reinstalled... perfect ever since.
