    870 Tactical Build Advice?

    New member here,

I am in the process of building a TAC 870

So far i have had it duracoated TAC OD Green and put a Mesa Tactical side saddle on her

my question is in regarding to sights.

i have been considering getting plain ghost ring sights installed, but then i was wondering what the outcome would be of mounting a rail on the reciever and on the foreend of the barrel, and then putting Larue AR type sights on it....

    and feedback or advice?

    thanks

standard AR sights would probably be too high on a standard 870 stock. you would have to change out ur stock to something like a Mesa Tactical LEO stock or the Urbino with cheek riser.

Definitely add a light to it, whether it's a surefire fire end or an elzetta mount with flashlight.

You already have a side saddle so you're good to go.

And maybe you might want to add the Mesa Tactical LEO pistol grip/adjustable stock with an enidine shot stock, makes follow up shots a lot easier and saves your shoulder at the end of a long day of shooting.

If you're gonna tac it out, forget the AR style sights and put an red dot scope on it. Takes a lot of the guesswork out of using slugs

+1 on a weapon light. I went with the Surefire forend on my 870. For my 870 I went with the KISS Tac approach. ATI Six round side saddle, Surefire fore end Spectre Gear 2pt tac sling and six round butt stock shell holder attached to the sling.

I'm sure I'll catch criticism on my build. Just bought the above rail system from a fellow Calgunner Rob - loves to help or give advice, YouTube videos on it, etc.

Well my build I have an AR-15 carry handle rear and an RIS mounted AR front sight. Yes, it's high, have a rear shotshell pouch to compensate and holds 10 rounds. Also mounting a reflex sight with red laser mid-rail. Knoxx Blackhawk recoil reducing stock, aluminum railed forend with aluminum vertical foregrip on the bottom rail, Mesa left and right side saddles, flashlight and I'm just getting started............

I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? Well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I've kinda lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum - the most powerful hand gun in the world - and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question - do I feel lucky? Wouldn't such a build require Mesa Tactical High Tube stock (or equivalent)? I thought the LEO and Low Tube stock both have the same profile as a standard shotgun stock, with the difference between LEO and Low Tube stock being that the accessory mounts on the Low Tube stock are not present on the LEO model.

It should have a bayonet lug. This is important.

Don't do it. If you want rifle type sights, look into LPA (Italy). They make slip over/screw down and solder on front sights with inserts that include white stripes, fiber optic (somewhat green) and tritium (my preferred type). For the taller picatinny mounted rear sight the taller front sight is used. The rear sights are either solder on or bolt/solder on the rail and attach the rear sight based to the picatinny rail. Inserts match the options for the front. By themselves, these sights can run $200.
