'69 Remington 1100 ...modernizing?

I have a 1969 1100. Field grade stock...no recoil pad.
26" skeet choke barrel. It is in excellent shape.

My question is: it feels a lot heavier than anything else
that is being shot. Are there aftermarket (or remington) parts
which can be substituted to lighten...without screwing it up?

Also, will a recoil pad affect a semi-auto's ability to cycle
properly...or is that an urban myth? If no problem, are some
recoil pads preferred?

There are no parts to make it lighter as these parts have not changed since that weapon was made.

Being that these weapons come with recoil pads also I guess that mess is pure BS, however you have to fire them from a solid shoulder or they may not cycle.

That is one sweet vintage 1100. You may want to shoot a round or two of skeet before you jump on the mods. You may find its just right the way it is.

If your going to mod it, sell it to an old f**t like me, I'll defintly put it to good use.

Not all 1100s came with recoil pads back in the day. I've had several older examples pass through my hands that left the factory with a plastic butt plate. The one I own now and shoot trap with came with the factory plate, the gun is late 1970's vintage. Changed that plate out to a Kickeez pad for a tad more length of pull and my scores have been climbing with it.

Changing a hard plate out for a recoil pad, or replacing an old, brittle pad, will not affect performance at all, at least in my experience with the 1100 platform.

If the gun is heavier at the stock end that it might otherwise seem to be it's possible someone added weight to the holes inside the stock. Not that an 1100 really needs that, but some might do it. You can pop off the butt pad or plate and see if there is something in there aside from what it left the factory with.

If your going to mod it, sell it to an old f**t like me, I'll defintly put it to good use.

2nd in line.... A vintage 1100 Skeet would be a treasure to many an old poop (myself included) and you could get yourself a more modern example already modded.

Mine looks almost exactly like this (You have a PM btw rickster) and right now I swith back and forth between my 18.5 barrel and the stock 26 depending on if I'm shooting 3 gun or clay.
