Muzzle device on custom Saiga 12 - legal?

    Hi everybody!
I am in the process of buying a customized saiga 12, with the pistol grip conversion and bullet button. I also wanted to add a muzzle brake but the guy at the store is telling me that it's illegal to have a muzzle device on a shotgun that has a bullet button.

..... I have gone over the shotgun flowchart multiple times now and I don't see that it would be illegal. I only see that I can't have a folding or collapsible stock (which I already knew).

Am I missing something that would make it illegal to have a muzzle brake/flash hider/door breach?
.....or should I be forwarding the flowchart to the shop and asking them to reconsider?

    Thanks Calgunners!
I want to make sure to keep it 100% legal, but a muzzle brake would be cool.

I've got a tromix monster brake on my Saiga 12 and never had anyone hassle me about it

This makes sense. Remember, if someone at a gun store is giving you legal advice, he is probably wrong.

Nicoman: is your saiga 12 stock, or did you convert to pistol grip?

Nothing in the law about adding a muzzle device here in CA... Especially in regards to a BB. Many people install a muzzle device to remove imported parts and replace them with US made parts for 922 compliance.

I really wish gun stores were a good source of gun related advice, like they really need to be

Is it really too much to ask that when you get into business in a certain industry, that you become familiar with the laws of said industry? Customers, like Gunguy1 here, shouldn't know more than you.

Your Saiga 12 can't have a folding/collapsible stock at the same time as that pistol grip. It must have an 18" minimum barrel and 26" over all length. It must also have a magazine lock. Those are all verifiable requirements in the penal code, while the only violation I see with this muzzle break is your spelling of muzzle "brake"

Mine is converted the barrel was chopped to 13" and the monster brake was welded on for 18" overall length

Ok, so I forwarded the flowchart and the links to the CGN wiki regarding shotguns and they looked at it and are now ok with adding the muzzle brake.
I have to give Semper Fi Supply credit for looking at the documentation and not just sticking to their "NO" on this issue.
I'll post a pic in a few weeks when I get my Saiga 12.

                      Thanks Calgunners!
