    Winchester 1400

Okay, So I have read everything I can possibly find on these shot guns and the owners either hate them or love them. For me, personally the cheap cheap cost was a deal sealer for me and I bought one. With that being said is there anything I should specifically look our for.

Second thing, does anyone know were I can get a 18.5 inch barrel for it

My dad use to hunt with a 1400 in 12 gauge,he bought it new in the late 70's.

It worked well for 20 or so odd years,it started having hang up issues due to the vent holes going out of alignment, when that happened he was stuck with a straight pull bolt gun.

As long as you take care of it that 1400 should serve you well.

Don't know about the 18.5 barrel, you might have to look around somewhere for a spare to cut down.
It isn't the size of your hallway howitzer,it's how you use it.

Some parts are getting scarce, they were followed by the Mark II version, but even parts are getting scarce for that one. Some ejectors and some feed throats are difficult to replace. I don't believe there were any factory 18.5" barrels, they could be made but the gas system might need tweaked.

Some do, but you need a parts book to compare part numbers.
