    QUICK QUESTION HELP!!!!

Well I just got a frantic call from my mother..... She accidentally discharges my .410 rossi stuffy shotgun. She shot her sliding glass door out and there is a fence between her and another house. Would .410 birdshot penetrate sliding glass door, fence, and the neibors house? I told her to call the police as I figure that would be the most responsible thing to do. What do you guys think? It looks like they need to rename a gun lock to mother lock. I always locked my weapons up when there were people I didn't know or kids in the house. BUT MY MOM??????

Well, probably too late of an answer now, but I highly doubt birdshot could come close to penetrating a fence of 2x4's. This sounds like a perfect excuse to put your mom through a basic firearm handling course!

I'm almost surprised a 410 with birdshot even blew out the slider. Seriously doubt it did much damage to the fence.

If it was my family member, I would give them the 4 basic safety rules then tease them for a long time. Hopefully no one or pets were hurt. Personally, if the police showed, I'd tell them I was cleaning it and had an idiot moment.
With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

Thanks guys, Well no police I just had my mom check on the neibors (not telling them shots were fired) Everyone was fine. Im in the bay and she's in stockton so I didn't get a chance to check out the damage personally. She went through a bad break up so I gave her my .410 and a bunch of slugs. Thank god she put the birdshot in there (another dumb move) I didn't want to give her my ar .308 (thank god I didn't because that would have for sure went through the house) the rest of my guns are antiques or handguns which she didn't feel comfortable with. Well I'm taking the gun tomorrow until she takes a firearm safety course with one of my handguns. Before I gave her the shotgun I took her to the range and set down the rules of firearm handling, shooting etc. I guess it didn't work lol.

BTW you guys think if it was .410 slugs it would have penetrated? Just asking for future reference.

              410 slugs act similar to a 357 Magnum....so yes.

410 bird shot at close range would also penetrate the fence (say within 5 yards for sure). Outside of 10 yards...no problem.

Check the neighbors with a "did you hear that, too?"

wow...yer a lucky man chris! 410 slug woulda been a serious problem!

For mothers I think a .38with a long double action trigger works well.

Here it is...this remindes me of that movie...where paul rude is tossing his kid a piece of toast an the neighbors .38 comes thru the wall and holes the toast...awsome scene!

You need to keep the chamber empty or lock the firearm bro, and maybe teach your mom how to operate the shotty and what not to do. Luckily this time no one got hurt.
