I have a Mossberg Silver Reserve and I really like it. I originally bought it to use while dog training so that if I dropped it or had to toss it to go after my dogs I would care if it got messed up. As soon as I got it I realized how much I like it. I end up grabbing it and leaving my Beretta Silver Pigeon III in the safe more times than not.
That being said, I bet you can find a used one cheap.
Now, tell us the project. I'm dying of suspense.Sent from free America otherwise known as Utah.Comment

I have a stainless synthetic Red Label that I won at a Ducks Unlimited dinner. It's cool to take out Duck Hunting. I have had several people try to buy it from me for $800-$1000. If you can find any Red Label for $400, buy it and I'll give you an additional $100 for it.Sent from free America otherwise known as Utah.Comment

Another option is Yildiz. Great value for the money and really nice wood. These are only sold at Academy Sports, and the warranty is handled by Briley. You would have to use the services of a middle man FFL, as Academy Sports will not ship directly to California.

I have not heard of any problems with Yildiz except being a little on the light side. I dont know how well they will hold up with long term usage. Some on shotgun world are clocking their Y guns, time will tell.Another option is Yildiz. Great value for the money and really nice wood. A friend of mine has a Huglu. I believe they are turkish made. Another inexpensive shotgun is the Escort o/u.
For that kind of money, don't expect a whole lot. You get what you pay for. I have handled a few Mossberg o/u's and they didn't lock very tight, fit and finish was rough and they looked rough. Good luck on your search!Comment

The Mossberg is made in Turkey by Kahn, the Escort is also made in Turkey by Hatsan. The fit and finish of Turkish guns will continue to improve since they are now using CNC machinery.A friend of mine has a Huglu. I believe they are turkish made. Another inexpensive shotgun is the Escort o/u.
