Light mount for Mossberg 500 Tactical?

I only have a little more than 1/2" of clearance on the magazine tube and barrel. Most of the mounts i see are wider than that. Any suggestions? I'd like something with a rail on it, so I can put a Streamlight TLR-1 directly. But if that doesn't work, I don't mind a mount that grabs a 1" light directly either.

Something like these below, but much thinner. Maybe I can shave those down until they fit? Wonder if it would still be sturdy enough. I guess I can try. They are pretty cheap.

I have a 18.5" 590A1 and have the same barrel lug issue (although I have the option of clamping to the barrel). I went for Mako 3 rail handguard. It's polymer, and only has rails on the sides for a couple of inches, so I can use it plain with no cheese grater effect. I have a Streamlight TLR-1 on the left rail and can easily activate it with my thumb (since that's what you're looking into, I could take some pics for you if you wanted). http://www.amazon.com/Mako-Mossberg-...7791381&sr=8-1

Some people think that by pumping it, it obscures the light, but really, when it's forward all the way, there is maybe 15% covered, and when you pump it, it's only like 30% covered, and it's all on one side. I've found that the indirect light still lights up the area enough too see everything.

I forgot to mention that I didn't want a forearm mounted light. But maybe that is the only option.

Yeah, that sort of is the only option. UNLESS! You spent $70 on a +1 mag tube extension from Nordic Components and an extended cap (allows you to fit another round in and makes it closer to the muzzle), then you could get one of those rail clamps and mount the TLR onto the mag tube extension.

Other than that, a forearm mounted light might be your only option. Why don't you want that? I love mine.

What do you think d33pt? Will any of these work for you? Monk's solution will probably fit, if you're willing to go for a 1" fliashlight. Look at this pic.

Nice! I was actually going to get this initially for my 870 but decided to go with the elzetta. Seemed nice and sturdy.

Thanks for the measurement. That will definitely work. I will get one of those and a 1" light.

Scratch that measurment! I was using my old calipers and they are out of calibration. The correct width is 0.735 inches. Sorry for the mix up.

Ooh..that's 1/4" makes a big difference. I might not be able to fit that without hitting the forend. I will check more carefully later. Glad i didn't order it yet.

I'm trying this one. The guy claims it's 9/16", which will clear by a hair.
