Help me identify my Mossberg 500A

This is my first gun and it was on sale at big 5 so I decided to go ahead and get it. I wasn't too concerned about the specifics of the specs, just wanted to get something for some home defense and have some fun at the range.

After I had bought it I went online and did a little searching (here too, but I'm still kind of confused) I saw that most of the 500As were referred to 8 shot, but mine is only a 5 shot, can someone clear this up for me?

From what I understand the "A" simply means its a 12 gauge, so both 5 and 8 shot models should be available, I would assume.

the 8 shot is a home defender model. I got both a 5 shot model and a 8 shot model. with the exception of the barrel lenght and the tube mag the receivers are the same. Did you get the combo one with the 18 inch and the 26 inch barrel?

Did you get hte one with the 28" and 18.5" barrels? Those would be a standard Mossberg 500 with a 5+1 shot capacity (I have the same gun). The Big 5 ads are wrong when they say it's an eight shoter...

This was not the combo, it came with just one barrel, the 20".
