Ghost ring for Remington 870

What's a good ghost ring rear sight for the Remington 870? Is this something I can add on my own or I have to go to a gunsmith?

Does replacing the front sight a trip to the gunsmith as well?

Is there a good gunsmith in the San Francisco bay area who does work on shotgun?

If your front sight is a bead, you can usually cement a front sight over it. The rear sight, however, entails drilling and tapping for the set screws. This requires a gunsmith and is pretty expensive.

I don't know what you are going to use this gun for, but if it's for HD, a bead is really all you need. You could simply cement an XS Big Dot tritium over the existing bead and be done with it. Or, you could purchase a rifle sighted barrel which, IMO would be the second best solution.

GR sights are really not practical at HD distances, IMO, but if you really must have them, you would be better off simply selling your gun and purchasing a new one with factory installed GR sights.

Sure, fiber optic sights are great, when you are on the range shooting clay in daylight. But they are useless at zero dark thirty, without sunlight. And, as I said, IMO at HD distances of, say 7-yds., the quickest sight is a bead, especially a tritium bead (which does not require daylight). Likewise, if I were going to use GR sights at night they would be tritium, not FO.

I bought a set of these from Wilson Combat. Shipped my shotgun to them for installation, which was very reasonable, less than $50 iirc
