I spent the morning shooting skeet at the most beautiful gun club I have been to since shooting at the World in San Antonio.
The Clark County Shooting Range is a new facility with over 20 skeet and trap fields, as well as rifle, pistol and archery.
Located less than a half an hour from the Strip, the fields are clean and the puller was very helpful and friendly.
I took my 15 year old son skeet shooting for the first time, using the Remington 870 28 gauge gun that I bought for him the week he was born.
Since San Diego Shotgun Sports closed down before he could hoist the gun, this was a special moment for me, since I spent the 1990's competing.
He has shot sporting clays, but shooting skeet with him was something I had wanted to do for a long time. He hit his first high and low singles, and I wanted to bottle that moment.
Of course, after that the beginners luck wore off, but he continued to swing the gun well, kept his feet planted and even hit some doubles.
It's a bummer that there is no place to shoot skeet in San Diego. This was a day I won't soon forget.
