    Rifled choke

If you have a plain field barrel what would a rifled choke do to a non rifled slug round, especially the non lead ones. It would definitely be easier than getting a new barrel. Any thoughts or imput. Or for, those of you that use your shotgun for big game (pigs). What do you use?

I don't think they are worth it. I have a flush mount Remington 870 choke, and it didn't improve the accuracy that much. I did not shoot those new fancy sabot shells. I only used Winchester 1oz rifled slugs, B&P low recoil slugs, and home made Lee slugs. If you don't have rifle sights or a scope, the rifling won't make a difference. I use to get 3" groups @ 100yds with my Benelli Super 90 with 20" barrel and no choke (cylinder bore straight through). I can't see that good anymore, so I doubt I can still get 3" groups.

From what I've been told, rifled barrels and rifled chokes are only for sabot type slugs. Rifled slugs have their own rifling on the actual slug, and should be used with smooth barrels.
