I have an early 90's 870 Express and the after market forend doesn't seem to fit. Is there a difference in the part that holds the forend for the older models? And what is that metal part that holds the forend called? Thanks

No they are not. There is only one 870 and the ones from 1950 to today as the same, except for a some very minor changes and the part you mention is not one.
That is the forend tube assembly and if the forend you are trying to install does not fit then it is not an 870 forend.JD McGuire, Owner
