Are there any issues with putting the trigger group and/or receiver in a tub of DUNKIT for an hour or so? That's what I use for my 1911's and I want to be sure there are no parts the cleaner would attack. FWIW, it's a Police model and I have a compressor to blow dry afterwards.

No reason to do that. It is better to simply go to a parts store and get a can of brake cleaner. I use Cyclo Part and Break cleaner. Put the little straw in the nozzle and blast out the trigger plate assembly. It has a high evaporation rate but you can also then blast it out with the compressor (I do). No put one very, very, very very small drop of oil on the hammer plunger, the carrier dog follower plunger and you are done.JD McGuire, Owner

Thanks...figured you would show up sooner or later with an easier method

Being north of 70 has definite advantages: I was able to do all my stupid stuff before video cameras, smartphones, utube, and the internet.

I don't even clean my 870. I just wipe it down with an oily rag after use. So far no problems, and I don't expect any.Comment
