Mesa Tactical -- LEO Adapters, Telescoping Stock and Adapter Kits

Anyone have any experience with these adapters or Stocks. I would like to upgrade a 590a1 to an M4 style stock. But I am also open to pistol grip stocks as well. Currently have a original Speed Feed.

I have looked at the Choate but have no experience with them either.

I just started looking around and I really looking for feedback.

    thanks

I just bought and installed a mesa tactical LEO adapter on my 870.

I bought it through amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details

It came as a set with all the needed bits to convert my wood stock 870 to a tacticool telescoping shotgun with a recoil reducing "buffer tube"

All in all, I am very satisfied with the fit and finish. My only complaint is that now its hard to get my sight alignment with the front bead however I planned on getting some sort of rail/red dot anyway. This may not be an issue with the 590.

Let me know if you have any more questions with the mesa LEO adapter and hopefully I can help you out.

i tried my bros mossberg 500 with the LEO adapter...i really like it, even without the recoil reducing tube and just leftover AR parts the recoil doesn't bother me.

made me definetely want to add a shotgun to my collection and get this adapter too
      Guns so far:
      Rock Island Armory 1911 Milspec
Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308

Just buying the adapter by itself and buying the other components seperately I found to be much more cost effective. I can't find a flaw in any of my mesa products. Have you seen the urbino stock? Top notch piece when you buy all the add ons.
WTB: Marlin 989 M2 stock (uncracked), and 989 M2 rifles
        Thanks

i have the LEO recoil-reducing kit on my 590A1. it's fantastic -- a lot of the recoil impulse seems to simply dissipate before ever reaching my shoulder.

I have not been able to find any information on this question so... When using just the LEO adapter will any Receiver Extension/buffer tube work?

Mesa has listed the Vltor 5-Position Receiver Extension Manufacturer Part No: RE-2. I am thinking this is the only other option without buying the whole Mesa telescoping kit.

            thanks

              from the instructions (available here):
Because the stock and grip interfaces of the Mesa Tactical High-tube Telescoping Stock Adapter are almost identical to a real AR-15 rifle, this adapter can accept almost any stock or grip combination made for the AR-15. The only known limitation concerns duckbill style grips that, while they will still fit on the adapter, would probably need to have the duckbill filed off before use.

The Mesa Tactical Low-tube and LEO Telescoping Stock Adapters can accept AR-15 stocks that do not require a lower indexing dimple. This includes most military and commercial collapsing stocks, but few if any fixed stocks. Generally, any stock with an indexing groove machined into the ventral side of the receiver extension tube threads will work with the Low-tube or LEO Telescoping Stock Adapter. Other stocks may be installed with minor fitting.

I have the LEO telescoping stock with the recoil stock kit and adapter for my 870 Express Magnum. Like others mention, it reduces the felt recoil alot. You can change out the stocks and pistol grip to like Magpul parts. I would add a limbsaver or something like that for the stock which adds further less felt recoil when you shoot magnum rounds. I know aippi and NHC uses it for their build. Mesa also makes an excellent side saddle. It maybe in the pricey side, but you only have to buy once. M

You can use any AR receiver extension/buffer tube, but you need to make sure you are consistent with stock as to whether or not you are going mil-spec or commercial, ldo.

I just completed (for now) my 870 rebuild using the Mesa Tactical LEO adaptor. I bought all the parts separately. I ended up still going with the Hogue pistol grip, but for the buffer tube, I'm using the ITT enidine shot stock (mil-spec), and my stock is Magpul CTR (mil-spec).

A couple of things to note for those considering LEO versus high tube. These may be obvious points to most, but just in case:

                  1. If you are sticking with regular shotgun sights or no sights, LEO or low-tube is the way to go; however, go with high tube if you plan on adding any kind of optics which will necessitate raising your cheek higher to look through the sights. If not, you will not be able to aim while maintaining a good cheek weld.

                  2. Be aware that due to the angle of stock behind the pistol grip on the LEO, you will not have enough space to mount a backplate sling mount. In fact, I think you are pretty much limited as far as end plates are concerned, as the LEO requires using the "claw" end plate that comes with the LEO adaptor. I was a little disappointed by this, as I wanted to use a single-point sling mount backplate. Rather, you will need to use one of the sling plates from mesa tactical, that fits in the recessed area between the LEO adaptor and the receiver. The LEO adaptor only comes with a blank, so if you want to have a sling mount, you should plan to get one of those.

                  3. NOTE: for the same reason mentioned in #2, you will be limited as to which pistol grips you are able to use with the LEO adaptor.

                  4. The lock nut (aka castle nut) does not come with the LEO adaptor or the buffer tube, so if you are assembling your own parts, be sure to plan to get one of these.

                  Just my $0.02

thanks everyone for the great information. I think I can move forward now with completing the MOD.
