Remington's Black Sheep M887 Nitro Mag

I know alot of people aren't fond of the Remington M887 Tactical. I was well aware of all those negative reports about it. I am not here to defend all of them, but would like to share my experience with Calguns if anyone was considering buying one. I think Remington has addressed all the issues with failure to eject, light primer strikes and whatever issues were reported because mine hasn't experience any of it. I brought it this summer and it has running 100% so far. Put through 150 rounds of birdshots and about 100 rounds of 00 buckshots. I love the buttstock that they used on it. The action is smooth and polymer casing felt nice. I like the way it looks on it. This is strictly a home defense shotgun. I've shot a 870 and I would say the 887 is comparable. But the only negative so far is the lack of accessories for it. The buttstock shell holder from Allen works fine with it. I am planning to put more rounds through it and will provide updates if anything funky shows up on it.

Here are some pictures of it. The target is shot at 10 yards and I shot 25 rounds of birdshot through it.

They say these are armored 870's, but the bolt looks drastically different.

It has a rotary bolt.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the function of the gun, but does anyone else think that from the pistol grip back, they just kinda gave up on matching the rest of the gun? The front 80% looks all armored and tough, and then they glue some leftover stock butts to finish up - not even some gills or mock vents or cheese grater holes (I just feel it is missing something aesthetically). Hell, look at what Magpul put out, get something more angled on that puppy.

We actually developed SureShell carriers for it, but when we finally started fitting the prototypes to the shotgun we found that the action would bind if the carrier was secure; and if it was loosened enough for the action to work the carrier would flop around. Calls to Remington provided no ideas, so we gave up.

The carriers are actually listed in our Catalog #16, but I don't think we have received more than a handful of orders for them.

I am glad they left it smooth and wide. Feels really nice next to the cheek and I was about to fit the Allen shell holder on it. I should post a picture of it. Looks perfect on the M887. http://www.amazon.com/Allen-Company-.../dp/B0016814WS
