Is it cheaper to have it converted to pistol grip, trigger and the gas system or buy it already converted? ON the atlantic firearms they already have the grip, stock and trigger upgraded. Not sure about the gas system. But it's like almost a 1k.
By the way what type of upgrade is there with the gas system?

I think it depends on the setup. Classic arms sells a converted Saiga 12 for a decent price but they will not ship to CA.

I can tell you what i specifically spent:
          699 -Saiga 12
          200 - conversion parts
= 899 total plus tax and DROS for a fully converted Saiga 12.

Im sure you could do it for cheaper, but I got the exact parts I wanted and thats the benefit to building it yourself. The money you save on the labor you can invest in Magazines and other parts.

          Gas system upgrades usually entails:
-Verifying how many ports it has and ensuring the right size holes are there. In some cases additional holes are drilled, or enlarging the holes might be necessary to run low brass (I never had to do this, as mine ran fine on the lowest bird shot 1200fps)

-before the above, I would look at getting a new gas puck, and regulator, then polishing the internals like BCG and rails if the gun was not cycling on low brass.

can you use a 10 round mag on "converted" Saiga? Would grip, trigger and stock make it 922r compliant?

If you want to use the 10 rd mag, the easiest way would be to change the gas puck to a CSS or MD, then you would have 4 US made parts and therefore would be compliant (Mag - 3 parts, Puck - 1 part).

Sorry I just re-read your question. Yes you can use a 10 rd mag on a converted Saiga, as there are enough US made parts in the conversion kit itself.

you only need 6 us parts on the rifle to make it us compliant. trigger group: 3 , pistol grip: 1 , buttstock: 1, and if your using a us mag that will put you over the top.
