    Help me choose some chokes

I'm shooting clays only with a 28", 12g, Beretta Silver Pigeon. I use the flush mounted "mobile" choke set. I was considering chokes that are extended for ease of R&R on the range when I go from skeet-trap-sporting. Always needing a wrench and not easily identifying the choke is no big deal, but mildly annoying.

What brand extended chokes (that fit the Beretta Mobile Choke system) would you recommend for clays? Why? Are vents a big advantage? Thanks!

The only "extended" choke I use on my Beretta is a turkey choke.

I have a selection of the following in MobilChoke.

Full, Modified, Improved Modified, Improved Cylinder, Cylinder.

I'll usually use the M, IM, or IC on clays depending on what I am practicing for.

btw, here's a handing chart for figuring out chokes and such. Remember, stars match notches.

I bought a set of extended chokes from Carlson's. On the knurled end it says CYL, SKT, etc in big ltrs. Easy to diferentiate. I assume they make them for Beretta's also.

Can't go wrong with any selection from Briley, Carlson, Trulock, Comp-N-Choke, Pure Gold, etc...pick the one that looks the best to you in the constrictions you need and call it a day - porting...main thing is that they'll be harder to clean

The Briley Spectrum Extended tubes are color coded, which is nice; though there's less knurling for you to grip when changing them out - I can still get mine out if I try

Briley is the BIGGEST and BEST shotgun choke tube manufacturer IN THE WORLD!

Like goldduster.I get along pretty well with the Carlsons.Give them a call.Their internet phone number I used was good a couple months ago. They are a wealth of info as to what purpose each choke is good for. They are also reasonable for what you get.I shoot a Browning over/under.A Stoeger 2000(which I think is the same for Beretta). Both guns modified chokes for quail, chukar and believe it or not coyotes.Of course it is different shot sizes, but gets the results I want on each species.

I have a Beretta A391 with the mobile choke system. I own a full set of extended Briley chokes. They pattern much better than the factory ones and they are very easy to remove with the knurled extension. I would recommend staying away from ported chokes as they are a bear to clean.

Check out www.trapshooters.com. There is always someone selling choke tubes there.

Man, what a difference in price. The Beretta Mobile brand is about $30. The Carlsons are about $36 and the rest are $48-$60! Eeeeesh! A three choke set with shipping can push $200.

Seems I'll give those Carlsons a look. Or maybe troll the marketplaces for used.

When I bought the Carlson's, it was free shipping for orders over $100 and there was a discount for another amount. I didn't know beforehand but the guy at the order desk told me after I placed the order. Also found them a wealth of info on what to get and how its used. They are easy on and off; and I figured that they patterned better because they added 3/4 of an inch to the barrell. LOL

Don't use any "chokes." Use ONE.

Poly-Choke or Poly-Choke II. I haven't checked, but I'm sure they make one that fits your shotgun.

I can't say enough good things about this system, although I admit I'm not an expert.

Carlson's = good stuff and good people. I run their tubes in my 1100, more so than the factory tubes. They often run a sale where if you buy three or more tubes they give additional discount. They'll also break loose with tube cases or a nice wrench on quantity orders. You can pay more for other brands, such as Briley, but I don't think they pattern any better than Carlson's.

Pretty much all extended tubes are marked on the knurling as to the constriction.

I have a set of Angle Port chokes for one of my shotguns. They sometimes run a sale which is 5 chokes for a $100.00. That is why I bought a full set of chokes from them because they were cheaper than most. They also specialize in Beretta shotguns so I am sure they have the Mobile Choke tubes.

Choke tubes are like scopes, you get what you pay for. The Briley long choke extended tubes are the best I have ever used. Rhino ported tubes come in a close second, only because the ports are a PITA to clean.

Put a little grease on your choke when you use it and use a wrench to snug it to the barrel.

Seminole. None better. I have shot sporting clays for fifteen years.
