I think everyone has a different definition of "expensive", so it might help to put your actual budget. Why are you looking specifically for a single barrel?

They had a couple of 'em at Big 5 for $99...

I can't remember the brands, but one was in wood, and the other was synthetic. They felt really solid, and for a hundred bucks, I wanted to pick one up...but I already have a few shotguns...maybe I'll tell the wife it's for our 7 year old, for when he's ready to go SG shooting with the old man

        good luck!

Plus 1 on what Big Al and Bug said - plus are we talking about just any single barrel/single shot shotgun, or a dedicated Single Barrel Trap (SBT) gun?

Can't go wrong with a BT-99 for singles Trap. I have a late model BT-99 Conventional with a 34" barrel, Carlson extended full choke...smokes targets as long as I do my part. You can find older/used ones for under $1000. The old Miroku/Charles Daly single barrel trap guns are also sweet shooters and can be found for well under 1k as well.

If you want something 'cheap' that's a dedicated Single Barrel Trap (SBT) gun, H&R does make the Topper in a Trap configuration:
My Topper Trap gun FINALLY arrive and I picked it up this morning from Guns Galore in Fenton. After taxes, the gun cost $339, which I didn't think was bad, slightly below where I've seen them elsewhere. While there, I opted to purchase a Briley extended full choke tube (Browning Invector), being...

My dad has one of those H&R Topper Deluxe single shot 12GA's and it shoots quite nicely. It is a very solid gun for the price.
