Fast Access Shotgun Wall Safe

Requirements:

Must fit between standard wall studs, 16" OC.

Electronic lock for quick access

Bolts for security

and

Fire protection would be nice.

Flange to cover the cut drywall would be a big positive.

I found one on ebay, with all the above except for the fire protection. I think it was in the $60 - $70 range delivered. This was for pistols. I'm sure they have long ones for shotguns; probably twice as much.

you might want to try and look for the local gun safe distributors. i know Citadel gun and safe (Las Vegas) has what your looking for. i was there a few weeks ago checking out the store. i cant say its a safe but a metal cabinet that fits in the wall with flange to cover up some of the drywall .

I have a pistol sized wall safe used primarily for my HD handgun. I dont do cabinets as there is not enough security. I thought this would be an easy search. Not to be. I wont give up but I ind it hard to believe someone does not make such an item.

I could easily fab a steel insert to fit between two studs. It would be used as a backer plate to the ShotLock. I Like.

I think shotlock would provide faster access. The price isnt too bad neither, its less than any residential security container that I know of. I found shotlock surfing the web looking for storage option for a potential new shotgun owner.

Easy to install, maybe 30 minutes if you have to cut the drywall. Clean appearance. Remember, this type of container is NOT a safe. It's good to keep guns out of sight and no access to children but give a burglar enough time and you might find the whole vault - with attached studs - cut out of your house with a chain saw. You can also key lock the box so even if a child figured out the combo, no access.

I have to say I like the concept, and holy crap that was a long thorough write-up from ITS. I like it's made in the US, but it is Sentry and at $349.99 for something not UL or fire rated to store 2 guns I would pass. Great find though.
