Help...Ordered wrong barrel for my Mossy 500 Persuader...

Well, I wanted to get a longer barrel for my Mossberg 500 Persauder for clay shooting. So, I mistakenly ordered the 24" Accu II barrel from Cabella's online. I should have spoken with an expert or posted the question on CalGuns before the purchase.

So, unfortunately, the barrel won't work because the Persuader's tube magazine is too long. Are there shorter tube replacements?

Is there a remedy for my dilemma or am I having to purchase another Mossy to go with my new barrel? Cabella's does not accept returns on firearms.

    Thanks...

Just buy another gun to go with your new barrel.

There is a conversion kit to take a standard capacity 500 to a full length (Persuader) mag tube. But the OP's situation is the opposite and there isn't a kit for that I am aware of. Likely would have to order a replacement mag tube and spring direct from Mossberg. It's not something you would want to change back and forth all the time as it's not as simple as adding an extension onto an 870.

And, of course, Mossberg doesn't make sporting barrels set up for the longer mag tube of the Persuader....

The 24 inch barrel is a good general purpose solution for a wide variety of hunting needs. I own one and find it useful for clays, upland game birds and turkey. If it's me I'd see if I could find a 500 or Maverick 88 with a standard length tube in good shape used, or wait for the next Big 5 or Turners sale price on a plain jane 500 or Maverick 88 sporting gun.

            1. swap the mag tube (and spring)
            or
            2. sell the barrel
            or
            3. purchase another moss 500 with right length mag tube
