what do you think about these from walmart? I don't see any numbers for how powerful these are (fps). What is your experience?

They are cheap, reliable, and shoot well out of a modified choke, a little less so out of a cylinder bore.
If you are looking for "long range" slugs, I would suggest looking towards federal. For short range plinking/hd, Super X is fine.
