    overtightened bolt screw on 590A1?

ok, I got a real problem here...

I was trying to remove my stock on my M590A1, but the stock bolt screw was extremely tight. I already broke one screwdriver and it didn't even move.

the manual says it's counterclockwise to loose it.

What should I do with it now? send it to a gun store? find a larger screwdriver?

Use quality tools that fit properly and you won't have the problem.

You should probably make sure you have a larger screw driver. You do not want to strip the screw or else you would be in a world of trouble.

Get a long screwdriver that fits the slot tight and without slop. Next, get Kroil and apply to inside of receiver where end of bolt threads into. I dont know Mossberg but Im guessing its the same as Win and Rem. If you can get a heat gun, heat area where bolt is screwed into receiver. Hopefully, with heat and penetrating oil you can turn bolt. I know they are tight! I couldnt generate enough torque to turn screwdriver so I used channelocks to grip shank and turn.

Field strip the gun. The end of the stock bolt and the part of the receiver it threads into are behind the trigger group. I would heat that area from inside and outside the action with a heat gun to release the threadlock, and then leave some penetrating oil inside with the stock standing upright for a day or two.

My 590A1 (with a Speedfeed stock from the factory) didn't have any sort of the issue described. I don't think many do, so you'll probably be fine.

still can't get it out with a much larger driver and CLP applied. I afraid that might break the screw if forced on it....
I don't have heat gun or any special tools mentioned above, and can not stripe the weapon since it has a pistol grip(you can't remove the trigger set with grip still on)

maybe I should bring it to a gunsmith tomorrow.

                  +1

and use a little WD-40 or other lube. Let it sit, then try again.

I encountered the very same problem when I first got my 590A1 and tried to install a Hogue 12" LOP stock on it.

My solution? I went to OSH, spent a few dollars, and bought myself one of their 'biggest' long-handle Craftsman screw drivers. Went home, didn't break a sweat, and got the job done.

                          Give it a try.

                          With best regards,
