    930 spx vs. FN SLP

So which one is better. I've found a lot of info online but its all kind of old. I've also seen the torture test posted online, but would like some more opinions.

    Bring them on.

I've owned/own both and you can't compare them because their price point is drastically different. The SLP is almost twice as expensive and it shows. The finish is much nicer and actually shoots slugs accurately. The 930 is a workhorse, not as nice but works. It never shot slugs well.

Ill agree to most of that statement. I originally wanted a Benelli M4 but couldn't justify paying $1800, so from what research I have done I decided on the 930spx. I have yet to shoot it but consider it my beginning semi-auto and foray into the tactical semi-auto world. I like how their is a decent amount of aftermarket products or at least parts that will retrofit pretty easily onto 930spx. Hopefully in the next few weeks I will get a first hand account on how it shoots with birdshot, buck and slugs. If this is your first semi-auto tactical I would go with the 930spx to see how you like it unless you have a bunch of $ to blow.

I would check out Brian Enos forums. There is over 20 pages on the Mossberg 930 and almost that much on the FN. Enos is the place for shooting information.
If you can't shoot good, at least look good shooting

So I guess the real question is is the FN worth the extra $500???

What do you plan to do with the shotgun? HD, skeet, 3-gun?

The SPX feels soo cheap and has trigger guard wobble, could have canted sights, the hand gaurd moves under torque.....I wanted to like it soo bad but it was u huge let down.

I agree with what some say, the 930spx is a workhorse, and it's a decent shotgun, but the FN SLP shoots better and just feels better (better build quality)

I would justify and warrant the extra money since I think it's worth it to get the FN SLP over the Mossbergy 930. But that's my preference.

My daddy always said buy the best that you can afford. That rings especially true in guns where most of the time you get what you pay for. This is why I did all the research you're doing now and just dros'd an SLP. I've never shot the mossy, and wouldn't have occasion to, so I had to rely on the interweb and make a decision with info available. FWIW, when i inspected the SLP on dros day, it all looked pretty tight to me. Can't wait to get some fancy blue FN chokes for it and start sending slugs down range.

Video of the differences between the two

I've shot the FN SLP, interchangeable chokes and ate the bulk Federal walmart rounds with no hiccups.

That video is very bias....all his video regarding the 930 are.

I was basing my liking of this gun on his videos. But once in person the guns are completely different as far as quality.

He doesnt mention any of the bad stuff.

For the price I would go with the mossberg but if your a serious shooter then go with the more accurate gun.

I plan on using it for HD and when SHTF.
