I just bought a gently used .670 Pure Gold turkey choke that was filthy when it arrived. Question: how do you folks clean those small, angled port holes up front? Is hand-tightening this choke enough? There does not seem to be a way to wrench-tighten it. Thanks for your help...

Pure Gold choke cleaning?

I don't have the same choke as you but this is what I do with mine...
I clean it with Hoppe's #9. If it's really grubby, I'll use a bore brush on the inside for a couple of swipes and clean it out with solvent. I pay special attention to the threads to make sure they are clean and not stripped or damaged. You could probably soak it solvent to get the carbon out of the
small holes.
After thorough cleaning, I'll put some choke grease on the threads. I then install it hand tight but I twist it in pretty well.sigpic
