rem 870 stock bearing plate help

i bought an old wingmaster stock for my 870 and was told that since my 870 express came with the synthetic stock that i would also have to get a stock bearing plate so i did but there is a problem. With it the stock does not look right. here is a pic with the stock bearing plate...

and here is a pic of the stock on without the stock bearing plate...

so my question is, is it normal? because from the pictures i have seen online none of the pictures look like that.
and just for reference, this is my shotgun

and this is where i got my stock bearing plate from

The "old" stocks did not use the Stock Bearing Plate, just remove it and check the fit.

the guy said the wingmaster was from the 80's. well i feel like a fool now for buying the stock bearing plate. The stock fits perfectly without it.

That looks like some after market stock and not a Remington production. The purpose of the stock bearing plate is to protect the stock from cracking. Wingmaster stocks are checkered and have recoil pads. Not sure what you have there.

good thing i got it cheap and that it was refinished for me for free or else i would be a little ticked off. There is a number 16 where the stock bearing plate meets the stock and there are holes for a recoil pad but it didnt come with it.
