    make sure you clean any rust in the mag tube as well. it can lead to rust on your new spring... i run very light coat of oil on my spring and inside the tube and have never had a problem with rust.

      For the cost of a mag tube spring (a few dollars) I would throw it out and buy a new one from Wolff, Brownells, Midway, etc. You will have a fresh spring to go in your shotgun which will look and function great after you scrub that tube out real good.
