I soak them overnight upside down, draining on a rag.Kano Kroil penetrating oil.I have several cans of it around.Better than any other gun junk I used over 30 years.I still use a good copper solvent for rifling like Montana Xtreme or KG12.Warning the Kano really creeps into everything, that is why it gets into the pours of steel, stainless, under rust, under fouling, etc.Midway sells all this stuff.

      I don't use solvent.

I run a bore snake through it, spray rem oil down the barrel, then run the bore snake through it again.

Break parts cleaner or the Winchester gun blast cleaner. I use it to get all the stuff left over from the wads and remaining lead out of my barrel. Then I'll use hoppes #9 or mpro-7 for the internals and receiver.

If super cruddy from a lot of shooting, a couple of quick squirts of Gun Scrubber to start. Otherwise one Hoppes soaked patch to loosen powder fouling, a few passes with a bore brush, a couple of patches to soak up residual solvent and then a light coat of oil. Cleaning the internals and outer surfaces and finishing with a light coat of oil takes me far longer than the bore does.

I use hoppe's and hoppe's lubricant on my HDSG...I use Hoppe's, CLP and Kimber oil on my Kimber and AR.

I've found Ed's Red bore cleaner works really well. The acetone is very effective in softening the plastic. Follow up with a light coating of the oil of your choice.
Here's a recipe, there are others but they are all very similar.

None. If a bore is cruded up I spay "Cyclo Break and parts cleaner"in it, run my cleaning polishing rod through it and return it to factory new. I then take the money I save by not buying that mess guys are using and I buy ammo.

Smoth bore barrels don't need all that mess. There is no rifeling to foul. Save your money.

Hoppe's #9 or Shooter's Choice, with Shooter's Choice the better of the two.

I use a tornado brush to remove all of the "stuff" and make one pass with my "RODGE-F" Chamber Brush and it's clean as a whistle. And I clean and maintain 48 shotguns!!!

                        HOPPes is what I use.

All of the above - also just ATF if you have not mixed up EDDz REDD

                        1part ATF and half ACETONE

                        bore build up

3/8 drill bitt - makes a expent shot gun shell into a chamber bushing - for heavier bore cleaning and burn-nessing - lapping.
