i just got m2 tactial it had the 3 shell limiter in it, can i just remove the rod and reuse the spring cap and retainer, it hold 5 +1 but is the spring tension right??

Yes, and the spring tension will be fine. I believe that the 3-round limiter is so that your gun will be in legal configuration for hunting.
