I've been researching around to see where I can send my Remy 870 Express for work. I decided to change the internals myself to make it up to par with the 870Police model. If you want to have the barrel worked on you can send it to Hans Vang, who is popular, but expensive. There are plenty of pistol smiths out there that can make your shotgun look tactical like Wilson Combat, but I'm not sure if they work on internals. If I have to send my shotgun for barrel work, there are other companies that do the same as Vang with good results that will port and lengthen the forcing cone. Look at R&D Custom Barrel Service who is located in Pico Rivera, California and Mag-Na-Port located in Michigan. I forgot about aippi who frequents this site. It is a inexpensive alternative. Good Luck.

Let him know Pat & Bev recommended you.

                  Barrel Porting:

                  R & D Custom: porting process unknown

                  MagnaPort: EDM Porting,

The EDM is best way to port, no matter who does the porting.

Shipping the barrel is cheaper than driving.

I have shot ported and non ported, except for the ported noise, I feel no difference.

Stance, proper mounting, length of pull, balance, a good fitting stock and proper instruction, make for less perceived recoil.

Best Stock Fitting information is. The Stock Fitters Bible by Rollin Oswald.

The book is easy to understand, it gives the ins and outs of what to look for and the ability to ask the proper questions, when talking to a Stock Fitter.

Believe me when I say a Salesman is not a stock fitter, 98% of the time. There are exceptions.

My biggest problem was racking the 870 for the second shot, but don't let anyone tell you it can't be mastered.

A master shooter using a pump shotgun, is a beautiful thing to watch.

i just like the look for porting, for some reason reminds me of older shotguns. not sure if i will go through with it though. i never had issues with my regular barreled shotguns as far as recoil etc.

and i totally agree on the pump, it looks like a fine orchestra. its definately something to watch, especially trick shooters.
