Something about the Big 5 Mossberg 500 combo

Ok, I'm all new to shotguns, I wanted something low cost, good enough for clay as well as HD. So I bought the mossberg 500 combo from Big 5.
I got home and found out that the 28" barrel is smooth bore and can't install a choke on it. Am I missing out on the choke? What do people normally shoot with a choked barrel?
Would I be better off buying the mossberg 500 single 28" barrel(w/choke and a little more expensive) and buy a seperate 18" barrel?

Chokes are vital to clay shooting.

It should be a modified choke, mine is. What does the side of the barrel say?

Yes, it says Modified choke on the 28" barrel and cylinder bore on the 18" barrel.
I guess the question now is what I'm missing out on not having a full choke on the 28"?
I'm mostly shooting clays at the range where the launcher is right next to me.

Also, can this gun handle a 3" magnum high brass powered slug shot?

Full choke would be helpful for longer distances. If you shoot trap at the 16yd line it should't be a problem.
