What light should I have on my 590A1?

I am thinking about getting a light in the future for my new 590A1 for home-defense.
my current choice is Surefire X300 since my 590 already has rail on the hand guard and X300 is a lot cheaper than other Surefire weapon lights.
(about 220 on Ebay, compared to 500+ for dedicated shotgun lights )

moreover, I can transfer X300 to my XD if situation requires.

But I would like to know if there is any other cheaper alternative option around?

If you bought a Surefire X300 New on E-bay it is a clone and is not a surefire. I am a Surefire dealer and we can not sell this product on E-bay. There are multiple clones being sold on there so if this was advertized as new it looks like you got took. Of course if it was used then anyone can sell a light they bought retail anyway they like and you got a good deal.

And yes, there are cheaper brands of weapon lights. But if you got a used Surefire X300 for $220 then you got the best deal out there on a quality weapons light. If you got a clone then get ready to need another weapons light soon.

So before so before some of you guys put on your floppy shoes and tell me I am wrong, call Surefire and ask. Don't make a clown out of yourself guys. Get the facts first.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

i dont think a surefire dealer would be selling on ebay. gunbroker maybe, ebay doubtful. being that it is ebay, he might possibly have a clone, anywhere else i would say unlikely, because surefire flashlights are going for less than half of msrp brand new in box from non-retailers and some retailers.

I mis-printed the model number and corrected my post. The X300 could sell for that price but not on e-bay, unless the guy doesn't care if he gets caught...........but 99 times out of 100 these are all Clones............. anyone can verify this by calling Surfire.......

The X300 would be worth $220 from a Surefire Dealer and with the life time warranty it is a great value.

I didn't know that, but how do you tell if the surefire around is clone or not?

            Lumaforce! Inexpensive, bright, lightweight.

and our leaders allow themselves to be spoon fed with foreign BS and have forgotten that the great majority of americans do not live in secluded gated comunities with private security 24/7 like they do, while the rest of us are subject to defending ourselves without Police escorts whenever we need it. they dont realize we are subject to different dangers than they are, and we must have and keep the right do defend ourselves!

hmm, that just bringing another question:

Is it possible to mount my Surefire G2 on the rail?
where can I get a proper mount from?
I once saw in pic that Polish solider use G2 on their rifles.

If so, just need buy a mount for my shotgun and a new G2X for myself

I don't mean to barge in on Lugiahua's thread, but I'm paying close attention here as I am trying the make the same decision myself. Recently got a 590A1 and I put the Laserlyte rail on it to mount up a light for HD use. Researching good relatively inexpensive flashlight options and recommendations for a ring to attach the light to the rail.

Yes, I feature the G2X Pro now and mount it with an Elzetta light mount. Go to www.elzetta.com and look at the mount.

thank you, that looks idea to me
now I just need a Elzetta and a new G2X...which costs around $150 I believe...
(I probably mount my current G2L to the weapon)

maybe I will add a fore grip when I have enough saving...

This is my 590A1, I believe it will fit?

I just bought a 590-A1 and the one I bought is the Blackwater edition and so comes with picatinny's pre-installed.

Only one problem and that is that I would prefer not to have a light mounted on the side or the bottom of the pump cob where the Blackwater Ed installed a Tri-rail system that I'll likely replace with the original Cob for comfort..

The purpose of a light on a gun is to evenly illuminate the area of threat.

When a light is mounted this far back on a moving part it casts quite a shadow and also changes the illumination sourcepoint each time you cycle a round.

The best place to mount a light on the 590=A1 is on the magazine tube by where the bayonet would go. (you can buy accesories that easily fit the tube)

This way you get full and consistant illumination with minimal shadow.

And depending on how you do it, you can still use your bayonet.

Because lets face it, why would you have a shotgun without a bayonet capability?

                      As far as what light.

I'd likely use the same light systems on my shotguns as I do on my pistols for interchangability and I'm using a Streamlight TLR-3 on my pistol that I'm very happy with. Very small and super bright and very light.

Be careful with the plastic mounts as they can break. Yes, I probably tightened it too much but how do you know, it just didn't feel tight. I haven't had that issue with aluminum light mounts. They also have small nuts backing the plastic that can get lost if you drop them. Stick with something metal to mount your light. I realize the plastic is cheaper but buy once, cry once.
