Looking for a cheap side-by-side, and came up on a USSG MP220. Can't find any reviews on it. Anyone every heard of it or know anything about this company?

It's a Baikal. Same gun as the Spartans imported by Remington.Last edited by heavyrecoil; 10-10-2011, 11:42 PM. -

Baikal guns have been around for decades, very well established. As noted Remington was importing them for a while, now EAA / USSG is.
The guns that come from Baikal are, IMO, well made, typically robust as their Russian manufacture would lead one to expect. The bluing won't knock anyone's socks off, but the fit and finish are good. The MP220 is their take on a coach gun if I remember correctly. The examples I've seen of it compare favorably with a Stoeger coach gun.
Using the word "cheap" seems to throw up red flags in this forum. The Baikals I've handled, and the one I own, aren't going to win any beauty contests. But they are a good value for the money you spend and you won't get all butt hurt if it gets knocked around a bit.

I've done research on the Baikal mp220 and the spr310, they are not going to win any beauty contests and the may swing like a 2x4 but I hear they are serviceable and a good value for the money. Stick with the double triggers and extractors. I hear that selective triggers are the weak spot on these guns.Comment

Hard to get a feel for the quality of thiese Baikal coach guns by doing a web search. I'll be buying sight unseen. Baikal seems to have a good reputation in Europe. Some say they are junk. I think I'll get one anyways, just to see, maybe learn a lesson. It's just for fun shooting anyways.
The alternative would be a Stoeger Coach gun, but there is more negative on those than the Baikal.Comment

Anyone have experience with their combo guns, believe it's the MP94. Comes in multiple combos of 12ga and a centerfire round or multiples of 410 and a rimfire round.
I commute along a mountain forested highway with many backroads. So looking for a combo gun to keep in the truck for improvised hunting when headed home from work or when out cruising. Always keep my license/tags on me for targets of opportunity and has paid off in the past. Was thinking maybe the 12/308 combo as just a beater I can sling wrap with paracord and commute with. Currently run with 2 seperate guns and thought it would be nice to replace the thousands worth of guns in the truck with something that even with accessories is in the low hundreds range.
