    Cut down H&R

Who out there has a cut down barrel single shot shotgun?

I have the opportunity to pick one up from a friend. It is a newer H & R 12 gauge that he cut the barrel back and the overall length is legal. It has a limbsaver slip on recoil pad on it. He said he never fired it. The price is right (I pay the transfer fees). I know I can send it in to get it rebarreled for another shotgun barrel if I wanted which is a bonus with the H & R.

I will probably get it because the price, but I am just wondering what use besides a fun gun it could be used for? Does anyone have one that uses it as a back up home defense shotgun, a truck gun or trail gun? How practical is it in its short form?

I personally have no need for a single shot shotgun. Not for hunting, HD, or fun.

Yes, I own two: a 12ga and a .410. The .410 was my starter gun for dove hunting but not really so great for that. I haven't shot either one in 20+ years.
