    Remington 870 Super mag

    Hey Guys,
I just ordered the 870 super mag waterfowl camo 12 ga. with 28" barrel. I plan to use this for ducks and geese mainly however would like to shoot the smaller upland game like doves and quail with it too.

It comes with the "over-decoys" choke tube. My question is what exactly is this choke (I think its a modified choke for steel shot and Improved for lead)???

This is the link to what I ordered:

    I hunt with a similar 870.

Watch out on 3.5 shells they beat the hell out of the first bone of my middle finger.
    Looking for a 3" Magnum 870 $200-$250ish

I think of "over decoys" as fairly close range shooting where the birds are coming in to the decoys. This as opposed to longer range "pass shooting" where you're firing on them as they fly across your view at height and distance.

The choke values Remington gives for their High Density (HD) choke tubes, which are extended and not flush to the muzzle if that matters, is>>>>

        Flooded Timber - Imp. Cyl.
        Pass Shooting - Full
        Over Decoys - Mod.
        Turkey/Predator - Extra Full

They're supposed to be for all non-toxic shot, including steel.

        Hope this helps.

I appreciate the help! After doing a little research i found that the diameter of the Over Decoys choke is .720. The diameter of the normal improved choke is also
.720 so it seems they are the same. I was just curious because i usually use improved for upland game...guess the Over Decoys should work for that too.
          Thanks!
