Any trap lessons in SF Bay Area?

Hi guys, I was thinking it would be fun to have some of my friends (mostly not gun nuts) go to a trap or skeet lesson one day. Are there ranges in the San Francisco Bay Area that have such a thing? Like you can sign up 5 guys and an instructor will teach us to shoot, and since I'm the only one with a shotgun, maybe rent us some shotguns?

    Thanks!

Have your tried Pacific rod and gun club in San Francisco?

Also in San Jose they have a range set up for skeet at Metcalf.

I have been to Metcalf, but just for rifle range. You could call and ask if there is a group class. I know some folks here, I think Smurfette one of the newer members went to Pacific Rod and Gun in SF. She brought her own shotgun, and there are instructors there, but I think the classes are limited in size.

    Found two more.

Well, I know of those ranges, but wasn't sure if there were lessons, or you just go and shoot. I'm a shotgun newby!

      THanks for the list!

I think most of the shotgun ranges can connect you with an instructor?

If you want try sporting clays but birds landing and coyote valley have deals check their web site

Los Altos Rod and Gun club is the place to go. They have a good amount of clay bird launchers, three types (hard, med, soft - hard is actually easier cause the bird stays in the air longer). They even have an electrical clay bird course, you pay a certain fee (which takes care of your entrance fee) and you get to shoot at 25 clay birds shot out in stages and different areas. haven't tried it but it sounds fun. But they dont have any instructors, they only have marshalls that can show you how to use the launcher.

            plus great staff.

If you are in the North Bay and interested in trap, Valley of the Moon Trap Club has public shooting hours every Sunday morning. New / first time shooters go to trap #7 and there are always NRA certified instructors or coaches on hand to help a beginner. If you contact the club about doing a group they could likely accommodate.

$6 per round of 25 birds, buy tokens in the office. Standard, wobbles and doubles all available. No short barrels, no tacticool. I'm a member there and there are some really good shooters and coaches. And just when you think trap is getting kind of easy the wind comes up in the early afternoon and makes the clays really dance.

This coming Sunday, there is going to be a club shoot at Livermore Rod and Gun for trap. If you are interested, you can come and chat with many of the shooters there, and there is a bay left for non-competitors that day. My girlfriend and I are both relatively new to the event as well, and have had nothing but warm welcomes from everyone there. =) If you are interested, shoot me a PM and I can give you the details. I'd probably get introduced first, before bringing your friends along, since you have a shotgun already. This way you can set a good example and also give your friends a run down of what to expect.

If you are interested in Trap specifically, Livermore-Pleasanton Rod and Gun has one the premier trap clubs in the bay area. Unfortunately, the club pro passed away several years ago. They do offer NRA Classes and have a shotgun course on Nov 6. Here is some information: http://www.lprg.org/start_hunter.html
