Sooooooo......I am looking for an over under in the $1000 price range, i was going to try to find a good used one but O/U are few and far between on the for sale boards. Im going to go CZ or browning, any thoughts and does anyone know where I could handle or possibly shoot one? Does any range rent them in Nor Cal?

I'd check the for private sale section, there's a couple of them there now. I'd like to think your money is better spent on a quality used gun than a "cheap" new o/u.
JerryThe inconvenience of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a good bargain. -
There is someone doing a clinic at Birds Landing (near Suisun City/Fairfield). Try a search here. They may have some loaner guns.
+1 on getting a quality used gun vs a cheap new one. Also look on Trapshooters.com in their for sale forum.Jack

Huglu and Yildiz has had some positive ratings on the net. IIRC CZ shotguns are Huglus. I have seen used skb go for 6-7 hundred on GB. I saw a Winchester 101 at Independence Armory for around 900. You will have to look a bit to find that sub 1000 o/u but they are out there.Comment

You either have to look into imports like Stoeger or Mossberg's o/u which are made overseas. For domestic ones look at used sales.Comment

Don't rule out Lanber. Not to sound like a fanboy, but they are some of the best deals out there for under a grand. My 2087 outshoots my cynergy and citori(probably due to better fit). Gunbroker and cdnn have them stocked for cheap.Wise is the man, who in quiet times, keeps his knives sharp and close at hand.

Don't rule out a Baikal either. Made in Russia, robust as hell. I own one imported under the Remington Spartan brand. They are now imported by EAA USSG and are available through many of the online dealers at well below $1K.
Mine has going on 5K through it shooting trap and still looks up good and tight. They are a bit on the heavy side, but built (typically Russian) like a tank. Fit is excellent, finish is so so. Barrels on mine shot pretty much to point of aim straight out of the box. Factory choke tubes are okay, but I've had better results with aftermarket tubes from Carlson's. Only really bad thing about the gun is the teeny tiny front bead, but that's an easy fix.

I've got a Remington Spartan 310 (Baikal) and it's a great gun. If I remember right, I paid $550 at Big 5. They're everything BigDogatPlay said. I replaced my choke tubes with Trulocks."If a man hasn't found something worth dying for, he isn't fit to live." - Martin Luther King Jr.
