I recently purchased a few upgrades for my 870 and thought I should do a quick review. I started with a basic 870 express 18.5 barrel with factory 2 shot extension tube.
First up was a Mesa Tactical Magazine Clamp. Removal of the old clamp was strait forward taking about 30 seconds. Installation of the Mesa was also strait forward taking about 60 seconds. The Mesa unit is substantially more robust then the factory clamp. The Mesa clamp also includes 2 quick disconnect sling attachments points on either side.
Next up was the Mesa 870 LEO adapter. Installation was a breeze. Remove the factory stock and install the adapter. I had an extra stock AR grip and used it as the LEO adapter does not come with one. The Mesa LEO adapter is really a quality piece the only downside I could see was that it did not come with a pistol grip.
I then installed an Enindine recoil reducing tube. It installed almost identical as it would on an AR. I found I could compress it by hand but it was defiantly very stiff. It is defiantly a optional piece of gear however I planned on getting my wife and kids involved with shooting the 870 and figured this would defiantly help. The one problem I had with the Enidine is that for $140 price point it should come with a lock nut and
With everything installed it deffenatly has a differant feel. Only negatives i have are you cannot acuate the slide lock as easily as you could with the factory stock and the front bead now is a little high. I figure that wont matter much as i plan to install scattergun tech sights on it.
Overall i am very pleased and feel that it was without dout worth the cash to upgrade.
