Mossberg 500 Tactical Persuader



Id really like to have a flashlight attached for HD but I am having a hard time finding a mount for the thing... I really dont want to change the forend grip since I like what I have, and I dont know if having the mount attached direct to the barrel is a good idea. Any ideas?

What basic sling can you recommend, im trying not to spend too much on little parts and acessories.

You can get a cheapy blackhawk one for about 20 bucks on amazon, as for the light, maybe one of the types that clam on the mag tube? Just be aware, cheap lights dont seem to last long on a 12g.

Make sure you do 1 screw at a time and BEFORE you take both screws out of the fwd heatshield screws!

I have a single point sling, but I don't always use it. It spends time with another toy I have.

Ill check out that sling.. what what seems to be missing is a place to attach the sling upfront.. Not sure what to get.

All I need is a mount for my light, I have a couple weapons grade lights made by Jetbeam and Olight. All my weapon lights have 1" tubes.

You probably want this one. Its screw holes line up with the heat shield too, I believe.

As for lights, you can't go wrong with a Streamlight TLR-1, or a TLR-3 if you're fine with less brightness for less cost. TLR-1's run around $100, and TLR-3's run around $75. You can mount those right to the left side of the rails and work it with your left thumb.

Honestly, I don't think you need a sling, unless you plan on hiking around with it. I got a sling, just to have, but it pretty much only gets in the way for HD use, and obscures more of the flashlight's beam. If you just want a basic sling, get a basic sling. They're easy to find, and most of them will get the job done.

As for front sling mounts, you can go with this, but don't expect to be able to use a flashlight with your left thumb.

I used that on mine originally, but ended up blowing off the swivel shooting skeet. But my mag tube is flush with the barrel, you wouldnt have that issue.

If you want to keep that forend, and opt for one of the TL-R series lites, you will need a rail to mount it as shown PaythePrice's link at post 2(LaserLite). Or, add a 2 inch rail to the bottom or side of your existing forend, if possible. If your reciever is tapped for sites, add a rail up top and mount the lite there with an offset mount and a pressure switch.

Def check out mounting solutions plus. I have the same mossberg like you. I got a mount with a light for $65. Works great and kept the same forend.

^^^ Shooter, I don't know what it is! It was included with a used sg I bought from the pawn shop. It's heavy at 5.50 ozs but the brightness and beam distance is very good.

To the OP, I use the same mount as Dozen which should work out nice for you. I like it a lot, but the Streamlight Polytac LCD light that came with it did NOT last more than about 20 12ga. shells.....Streamlight did fix it for free though which was nice. Now it sits in the BOB.

The light looks like a generic version of a Surefire P6 / P60 drop-in compatible light.

I got 5 of those laying around. Its a common flashlight body used by people who want to make their own flashlights...

No worries, Im also one of those Candle Power Forum nut jobs. I have a fair share of high end weapon lights to choose from.

I also like to make my own flashlights so Im working on a build that should be able to take the abuse.

Ill give that mount a shot, I dont want to order something unless I know its going to work. I keep feeling that heatsheild is going to get in the way of using some of these mounts....
