Blackwater vs 590A1

i had one of those mako forearms on my 590A1 for about five minutes. it's not a good place to mount a light -- when you rack the slide, everything on the other side of the barrel goes dark.
i suppose if you want to run an AFG or a hand stop under the forend, it's mostly either the mako or the ergo model. (i prefer a strap, but YMMV.) but if you want a light mounted out front, you're better off with something that secures it close to the end of the barrel like this or these -- or even a short rail section like this with a picatinny light mount attached..Comment

Because it's polymer, it's actually nowhere near a cheese grater as metal rails are. That said, I use an AFG. If I weren't I'd probably use ladders and two hand stops.Comment

Just to give y'all an update. Since this was my first shottie,
I just went with the MOSSBERG 12GA. VENT RIB PUMP SHOTGUN COMBO from Big 5 for $269
and with the difference, I bought THIS
from Nathan at TM. Cool guy by the way.

I just bought the BW version and although I haven't recieved it yet I think I might just sell the tri-rail forearm.
I originally bought it because it was the same price as the other but had upgraded ghost rings and factory mounted picatinnys.
But the more I think about it I would rather have the plain cob forend for comfort, and it is unlikely I would ever mount a light in such a poor choice of location.
But I bet I could sell that forearm at a decent price that would pay for me replacing it and then some. And I'll still have the XS sights and top rail.Comment

Blackwater because it includes the top rail already mounted and it looks like the sights are better as well.Bounce a ball in Football that's a fumble. Baseball, no bouncing at all. Bounce a ball in Hockey, well that's a mandatory drug test right there...Comment
