870 18" barrel and ext mag, any recomendations?

i have an 870 express magnum W/ 28" barrel and standard mag. i want to turn it from a goose gun to a home defense platform. i already have mt heart set on the light mount i want but i need help finding a barrel and mag for a good price. i live in Orange County and any help would be greatly appreciated. willing to buy an inexpensive but good knock off if anybody knows of one.

Thank you again. God Bless America. Lord knows we need it.

You might try this place out: http://www.aiptactical.com/. He posts on this site as Aippi. He is an authorized Remington Dealer and has good deals. As soon as I can come up with some cash he's the one I'm ordering some stuff for my 870.

An 18.5 inch barrel can be ordered from Remington for ~$120 or so. The Remington factory mag extension works just fine and is reasonably priced again ordering from Remington. Both are also available from a variety of reputable sources on line (Midway, Cabelas, Brownell, etc). You can also find both on the secondary market (Ebay, Gunbroker, etc.) but you take your chances on condition as opposed to new.

Mossberg also makes an aftermarket barrel for the 870 in the length you desire, but it isn't any less expensive than getting an OEM barrel from Remington, IMO.

Note that an Express (other than the tactical model) has dimples on the inside of the mag tube at the front end that need to be flattened out before a mag extension will allow full capacity.

Definitely check out aippi's site. He'll likely see this thread and reply into it at some point.
