Guns and Weapons for LEOs (November 2011 issue) has it listed for $1300. All I really care about is the barrel, which I want like yesterday. It has "62 ports near the muzzle--31 on each side of the front sight." The range reveiws are impressive to say the least.

Any one know where or when 'just the barrel will be avaiable' for an 870?

Patterns for Federal LE FliteControl 9-pellet at 30 yrds were 6.50

You could send him a barrel, your whole gun probably would be better, and he will do whatever you want.
