Remington 870 Tactical front sight fell off

I recently took my new Remington 870 Tactical out for the first time. This is the tactical version(Model #81198) with XS Ghost Ring rear sight and a front blade sight. I was shooting cheap Walmart Federal Field & Target 8 shot, after about 20 rounds I noticed my front blade sight had just fallen right off. I unloaded the gun and tried to reinstall my front sight, but it was way too loose and just slid on and off with little effort. It seems the dovetail on it was cut incorrectly. Needless to say I was pretty bummed. This was my first Remington and I did not expect poor workmanship from them. I continued to shoot my shotgun without a front sight that day, considering my trip to the range that day was to break in my new shotgun. I had a good time at the range that day shooting all my guns but I left with a bitter taste in my mouth about the 870.

Finally (a week later), I got around to getting a hold of Remington today. I was surprised at their customer service. I explained what had happened, and they were quick to take care of the situation. They are sending me a whole new barrel ( with sight installed correctly hopefully) and it should arrive in the next 7-10 business days. They told me to just send my old one back when I receive the new one. We will see how everything turns out, but for now everything seems to be going smoothly. My other guns are Rugers, and I didn't think there were many other gun manufacturers out there with that great of customer service.

Good news. After going to 870 school, the factory approach to fix the front sight is barrel exchange and anything with the trigger plate (group) is also exchange. My first parts order through Remington was awesome!

The front sights push in right to left and in a pinch you can loctite 380 them in place.

That happened with my 11-87 I was at Front Sight in the middle of a drill and suddenly noticed I had no Front Sight!. It became an excuse to install a tritium sight.

it is not the Barrel it is the sight. Reminton cuts all the bases the same. They do not make that front sight a vendor does and that is the issue, however, the assembly guy on the line should have checked this and put a drop of sight adhisive on the base first and the sight would still be there. So, it is Remington fault and they are correct to make it right.

Today I finally received my replacement barrel from Remington. Can't wait to take it back out again, I hope all is well now. I could have just fixed it myself (easy enough) but something about taking out a brand new gun for the first time and having something just fall off didn't sit right with me. Remington made it right and were fairly prompt about it. I can't help but consider keeping the old barrel and not sending it back.... I know I shouldn't though (and won't) - bad karma. Anyways - very pleased with Remington customer service!
