I have a Remington 870, and was looking into the Burris speed bead red dot sight. I was wondering if anyone has any input on this red dot sight. Mine just has the single bead sight on the front of the barrel and wanted to get something to help with accuracy shooting slugs at the 100 yard range.

Not to be flip but just practice more. With a bit of practice, and finding the right load you should be able to lay slugs into a man sized target at 100 yards over a plain bead. It's really not as hard as it seems, assuming you are shouldering the gun properly.
The Burris Speed Bead is an okay piece of gear, but if it was me I'd go with a more traditional receiver mounted red dot optic, or a shotgun scope if I was going to be hunting four legged game with it.Last edited by BigDogatPlay; 08-22-2011, 9:19 PM.

Thanks for your input, I do pretty good at the 50 yard range, and have shot at the 100 yard range once with slugs. I think I just have the bug again and want to buy more stuff for my 870.Comment

I've heard a lot of bad reviews on the mount being made of tin foil. The fastfire red dot on its own is said to be quality, just ordered one with a picatinny mount.WTB: Marlin 989 M2 stock (uncracked), and 989 M2 rifles
