    FN SLP wont quit.

    Hey Calgunners,

I just wanted to mention... I've shot 638 rounds out of my SLP to see if it would bind or fail somehow. Between the last three trips to the range, I've only field stripped it and added oil/grease. I did not clean or wipe down the piston (I got a spare to do this test just in case). Now that I have had a bit more free time to go to the range, shoot trap, and varmit hunt with this thing, I've put the Benelli and 870 in the back of the safe, and pretty much forgot about them until now. This gun has taken everything from light target load to double 00 buck without a problem. Not a single FTF or FTE, no problems loading, no problems with the piston, NOTHING. The only aftermarket part on this is the Nordic Components extended bolt handle. Earlier tonight, I shot 22/25 on a game of trap, which is the best I've done to date. I'm going to order a longer barrel to take this thing duck and geese hunting this year, so we'll see how it holds up with some ill-weather thrown at it. =) Time to clean it. boooooo.

Good to know, it has been on my wish list.

I used to think the Benelli I've been shooting was unbeatable. The M1S90 has done a great job, and has also never let me down, but with it becoming more and more limited, I've decided to shoot it less. The SLP has truely been a better feeling gun when behind it, I can't exactly put my finger on how or why, though. In the end, the 870 platform is still my go-to home defense gun, just because it's something I already have outfitted and have shot thousands of rounds through.

What length of barrel is on yours. I've got the same gun and so far I'm pretty damn happy. Only pisser was one of the snap/c-clips where the take down pins slide in was loose from the factory and wouldn't allow the rear pin to go back in. Some minor adjustment and it was back in action.

Another happy SLP customer here! Brother, you can put 9 shells out of it before the first hull hits the ground.. badass!
My only gripe is that I wish it was lighter so it'd be a little faster to swing around.
BTW, watch your piston around the 1-year mark. The little spring in there tends to wear out and break. You'll know this has happened when you start seeing short stroking.

Gunntz, mine is the 22" MKI model. No problems taking it down yet, last night's cleaning was painfully long, but can't complain.

Superset, I got a spare light load piston (the one I'm beating up now) so I have one sitting around as a spare just for the very reason. The gun is a tad heavy, but I've grown used to it so far. I've got a friend with a high-speed camera, we are going to try to make it out to another friend's private property to test out the speed between my Benelli and the FN. =)
