    Storing a shotgun loaded

So on a Mossberg 500 with a tubular mag, if you keep it loaded will it wreck the spring and cause feeding problems like you might have with detachable mags?

Springs get weakened by repeated loading and unloading, not by constant compression. If the spring is not being loaded past it's elastic limit, it will permanently deform and may cause feeding issues, but most likely the spring on your shotgun is designed to not be past it's elastic limit when the magazine is fully loaded.

So no, it won't hurt the spring to leave your gun loaded. It also won't hurt a box magazine to leave it loaded. A spring is a spring is a spring, regardless of the housing it's in.

Your spring will be fine........I would not leave the gun with a chambered round. That is one of the huge advantages to a pump, it can be chambered instantly when nessisary by someone that knows what he is doing but if picked up by a kid or someone that unfamiliar with the gun it is difficult to make dangerous. if it needs a new spring every 20 years, it is cheep insurance.
