    sorry for the late update.

when I brought it, it was nib. I have put through about 400-500 of bird shot through it..

would that consider breaking it in?

I finally got a chance to go to the local gun shop and guess what..

the receiver is cracked, the part that was suppose to catch the barrel is done so.
hence why my barrel was wobbling and no matter how tight I tied the screw down, the barrel would wobble.. the stock came undone.. and the action is also done so..

I'm sending it back to Davidson's for repair, if not.. look like I be getting an new one..

I think you mean the ejector was broken off. The tip of the ejector holds the barrel in place. I see no manner in which the receiver could be cracked nor is that something that could be repaired. If the receiver is cracked I would be very interested in seeing a picture of that for increasing my knowledge base of these weapons.

If the lock washer was left off the stock bolt during install then that is the issue with the stock. A washer or as already posted by another member, a small drop of blue loc-tite resolves the issue.

The weapon is under warranty for two years. It does not go back to Davisons. You call Remington at 800-243-9700 and they give you the contact number for a warranty repair center and it is repaired. Also, ask them to send you a pre-paid shipping label to send it out for repair.

            update..

so I have the gun send back to Davidson's and I believe they are sending it back to Remington..

My question is, how long would it take Remington to repair it? what's the turn around time for it?

            thanks.

Why would you send a new weapon to the distributor. Remington warranties the weapon. You just put more stuff in the mix and it is going to take longer. And what about the receiver? How was it cracked? where was the crack?

An 870 receiver is milled from a solid billet of steel. That means they take a solid steel block and remove all the metal that is not the receiver. I have never seen nor even heard of an 870 receiver cracking. Twice I have been to the factory and saw these being manufactured and have worked on thousands of them and I would not even know how to start trying to get one to crack.

Please post back the result of the repair as I assure you that you are going to get the same receiver back. You will know because If it were cracked, it could not be repaired and you would receive a new weapon with a different serial number.

I had FTE with my 870... brought it in for warranty repair, they polished the chamber, and *poof* flawless every since. . . Which goes to say, "come on Remington.. spend 15 more seconds on that chamber!!"

Late last month, I bought an 870 Express. The day after I got it out of jail, still not having shot it, I loaded the magazine with 6 shells, and attempted to "cycle" the action.

After two shells were ejected, the third one failed to feed out of the magazine.

It took finger pressure on the "shell latches" to get the stuck shell out.

Tried to get the rest of the shells in the magazine to eject by cycling the action - one ejected - the rest were stuck as the first one.

Tried this, again, several times, with several brands of shells (quality shells) with the same result. Except that by this time only the first one would cycle/eject, and finger pressure on the shell latches would no longer release the stuck shell, which required removal of the magazine spring, etc., to get the shells out. Yes it took a long time, but I wanted to make sure it was the shotgun and not something I was doing.

Called Remington for warranty - they directed me to a local warranty dealer. The one day old, unfired shotgun is there now for repairs.

How did this get past Remington's QC?
