Thinking about using my o/u this year for dove. Could use a little advice on which choke tubes to use. For skeet I use skeet tube in one and improved cylinder in the other. For dove I was thinking of improved cylinder/modified or modifed/full. Which setup would you use ? thanx.

I'd say it's going to depend on the type of shooting you are going to see. When I was a kid I hunted a lot of farm fields for dove. Lots of pass shooting at 20-30 yards, with the usual speed and eccentricities of doves in flight thrown in. I was shooting a pump and sometimes a single barrel with fixed chokes back then, modified on the pump and full on the single. I pretty much always took my limit.
If I am going out now for doves with my o/u and choke tubes I'd be thinking improved cylinder or light modified on one barrel and modified or improved modified on the other.
Looking forward to seeing other opinions on this.

For dove, I use improved cyl on first shot with modified on second shot for my Citori.
I once tried using a full choke and had an approaching/head on shot on a dove and open fired at less than 25 yards. There was a burst of feathers and the only part of the dove I could find was a pair of wings with a thin layer of skin holding them together. Needless to say, I don't use full too much if I want something left to pick up.

Fully agree, especially for the season opener. Skeet or improved cylinder in the bottom barrel with a modified or light modified on the top barrel.
Second season maybe a light modified in the bottom and a light full/full in the top barrel. Second season most shots are further away....they have learned by then!Comment
